You might recognize Also Sprach Zarathustra from Kubrick’s hit film 2001: A Space Odyssey. Now you can listen to the masterpiece live this weekend. The performance will also include Nathan Olsen performing Britten’s Violin Concerto.
Vertigo

After its inception in Jerusalem over two decades ago, Vertigo Dance Company has performed its blend of modern dance and classic ballet all over the world. This weekend, the company is making its Dallas debut with Makom, a performance meant to emulate a sense of place.
Dallas Reggae Festival

Embrace the spirit of reggae music this weekend at the Dallas Reggae Festival. The family-friendly event includes a stacked musical lineup, local vendors, and Caribbean-inspired foods to try.
Changing Perspectives Block Party
April 13, 3 p.m. | 2403 Flora St.
In step with Dallas Art Month, the Dallas Arts District is hosting BANDALOOP Vertical Dance Company for a free, family-friendly event featuring dance mixed with vertical climbing technology. The block party will also include other local performers, musicians, and artists.
Dance at the Modern: Ode
April 13 to April 14, 1:30 p.m. | 3200 Darnell St., Fort Worth
Explore the cyclic nature of life in Ode, a contemporary ballet performance taking the stage at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The performance is choreographed by Alexandra Light, a local artist, dancer, and choreographer behind the yearly Dance at the Modern series.
Texas Street Food Festival
April 14, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. | 1650 E Randol Mill Rd., Arlington
Sample street foods from North Texas’ most loved food trucks at Texas Live! this weekend. The event will also include live music, an ax throwing trailer, mechanical bull riding, a vendor market, and a kids fun zone.
OK2BX Film Festival
April 14, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. | 231 W Jefferson Blvd.
Celebrate films of all kinds created by high school students across North Texas at the OK2BX Film Festival. The event will showcase animated films, films created on smartphones, and more. The festival’s inclusive theme honors the OK2BX Foundation’s inspiration, the late Eleanor Bolding.

Bernadette Peters

Bernadette Peters has amassed a trove of accolades during her multi-decade career, including three Tony Awards, a Golden Globe, three Emmy nominations, four Grammy nominations, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She’s played everyone from Dolly Gallagher Levi in Hello, Dolly! to Lily St. Regis in Annie. Expect plenty of songs from her extensive repertoire of Broadway hits.
10,000 Maniacs
April 11, 8 p.m. | Longhorn Ballroom
Last year, 10,000 Maniacs announced that lead singer Mary Ramsey and guitarist Jeff Erickson would step away from touring. In their place are Sixpence None the Richer singer and guitarist Leigh Nash and Matt Slocum. Expect to hear plenty of the songs that put 10,000 Maniacs on the map, but don’t be surprised to hear “Kiss Me” or another Sixpence song in the mix, too. They’ll be joined by Kelley Mickwee.
Rickie Lee Jones
April 11, 8 p.m. | The Kessler
Rickie Lee Jones broke into the music scene in 1979 with her distinctive voice an catchy “Chuck E’s in Love.” It was enough to earn her the Best New Artist Grammy that year. Fifteen albums and two Rolling Stone covers later, she’s on tour supporting her latest effort, Pieces of Treasure, an album devoted to the American songbook.
D.L. Hughley
April 12-14 | Addison Improv
Comedian D.L. Hughley has starred in his own sitcom, written books, hosted a game show, and currently hosts an afternoon radio show across 60 cities. When he’s not doing that, he’s touring, competing on Dancing with the Stars, and starring in comedy specials. He’ll be in Dallas for the entire weekend.
Tim McGraw
April 12, 7 p.m. | Dickies Arena, Fort Worth
Country music singer and songwriter Tim McGraw wrapped up a star turn with wife Faith Hill on Tyler Sheridan’s TV series 1883, and then promptly released an album and went on tour. This tour, which includes a night in Cowtown this weekend, supports his 17th album, Standing Room Only. He’ll be joined by Carly Pierce and Track45.
Margaret Cho
April 12, 7:30 p.m. | Texas Theatre
Actress-comedian Margaret Cho has recently appeared in HBO’s The Flight Attendant and Hacks, the movie Fire Island, and Netflix’s Good on Paper, as well as two Netflix comedy specials: Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration and Jane Fonda & Lily Tomlin: Ladies Night Live. She’s been named one of nine best female comedians of all time by Vogue, one of Rolling Stone’s “50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time,” and one of CNN’s “50 People Who Changed American Comedy.” She’ll be in Oak Cliff Friday night.
Sessanta: Primus, Puscifer, and A Perfect Circle

To celebrate Maynard James Keenan’s 60th birthday, two of the bands he fronted—A Perfect Circle and Puscifer—will be joined by Primus. All three will play individual sets, but expect plenty of musician swapping throughout the night. The tour is an expanded version of Keenan’s 50th birthday celebration in 2014. As part of the tour promotion, the three bands released the three-song Sessanta E.P.P.P.
Syndicate Smokedown & Music Festival
April 13, All Day | Toyota Music Factory, Irving
The Fort Worth Stock Show Syndicate will host its third annual music festival and barbecue competition at the Stockyards Saturday. Plan to spend the day smelling delicious meat while listening to good music—the lineup includes Shane Smith & the Saints, Muscadine Bloodline, Mike & the Moonpies, Bones Owens, Gary P. Nunn, Two Tons of Steel, and Max Stalling.
Tyler Childers
April 13, 7:30 p.m. | Dickies Arena
Tyler Childers will bring his Mule Pull ‘24 Tour to Dickies Arena Saturday night. He first gained notice in 2017 with his breakout album Purgatory, produced by Sturgill Simpson, who also produced his 2019 album Country Squire. Previous shows have sold out (or been rained out, as was the case last year at Toyota Music Factory), but the bigger venue should help that out.
Gabriel Iglesias
April 14, 7 p.m. | American Airlines Center
Gabriel Iglesias will bring his Don’t Worry Be Fluffy Tour to the AAC Sunday night. Iglesias, who also stars on Netflix’s Mr. Iglesias, recently became the second-highest grossing touring comedian, and has amassed more than 1.1 billion views on YouTube. He’s appeared in the Magic Mike series and has also done voice work, including Space Jam: A New Legacy, Coco, Ugly Dolls, and Ferdinand.
Police Deranged for Orchestra, featuring Stewart Copeland
April 16, 7:30 p.m. | Meyerson Symphony Center
Police founder/drummer Stewart Copeland and the Meadows Symphony Orchestra will join forces for one night to showcase the songs of that band. Copeland is in Dallas working with students at SMU’s Meadows School of the Arts in his on-campus residency.
Adam Ant
April 16, 8 p.m. | Majestic Theatre
Adam Ant may have come from the late 70s British punk scene, but when the 80s were ushered in, he became a pop sensation thanks to songs like “Goody Two Shoes” and “Prince Charming.” Nearing 70, he kicked off his ANTMUSIC tour last month in St. Louis, and will wrap up next month.
Laufey
April 17-18 | Winspear Opera House
Jazz and pop singer Laufey earned the “Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album” Grammy this year for Bewitched and will release a new album this month. The Icelandic-Chinese artist grew up a globetrotter, living in Reykjavik and Washington D.C. and visiting Bejing annually. Her stint at Berklee College of Music also produced a debut single, “Street by Street,” which topped the Icelandic radio charts in 2020. By 2022, Laufey as the most streamed jazz artist on Spotify, with 425 million streams. Her two shows in Dallas are sold out, but keep an eye on the AT&T Performing Arts Center website, because occasionally people will donate their tickets back for resale. Grace Enger will open.
Kathy Griffin
April 17, 8 p.m. | Majestic Theatre
Kathy Griffin is no stranger to controversy, but her nationwide My Life on the PTSD-List tour kicked off in February to large audiences. The two-time Emmy and Grammy award-winning comedian and TV host says the show is a celebration of her “resilience, humor, and the power of laughter to heal.” She’ll visit 40 cities altogether.
